Introduction
The steam air retort uses a steam‑air mixture as the heating medium for thermal sterilization. Steam supplies the main heat, while compressed air provides the overpressure required to protect containers throughout the process. Unlike conventional saturated‑steam sterilization, the steam air retort does not require a separate venting phase. This reduces steam loss, improves energy efficiency, shortens processing time, and maintains stable pressure and temperature inside the retort.
Two steam‑distribution pipes are installed at the bottom of the retort. Steam is introduced evenly into the chamber and mixed with air by a high‑flow axial fan. The high‑velocity fan continuously circulates the steam‑air mixture through the air ducts and around the containers, helping ensure uniform heat distribution throughout the retort.
The internal forced‑circulation system mixes residual air thoroughly with steam rather than discharging it. The circulating steam‑air mixture acts as the heat‑transfer medium, promoting uniform heating and minimizing cold spots.
The high‑flow axial fan features a robust structure, reliable operation, and long service life. It plays a key role in maintaining temperature uniformity and meeting thermal‑processing requirements for canned foods and other packaged products.
The steam air retort is suitable for canned foods, flexible pouches, trays, glass jars, plastic containers, and other packages requiring precise temperature control, stable overpressure, and reliable commercial sterilization.
